Vlaski Do is a favorite destination for cyclists, hikers, and all those who want to relax in nature. This oasis holds special importance for the residents of the surrounding villages and for the people of Zajecar.
he place has significant historical value: in 1888, the first station of the first industrial railway in Serbia was built here, under the patronage of the Belgian government. This so-called Belgian Railway stretched from Vlaski Do all the way to the port on the Danube, from where lignite coal was transported further into Europe. The station was equipped with four tracks, a locomotive service area, and a turntable, which at the time was a true technical marvel for this region. Today, a memorial plaque marks the location, while until 1945 the station played an important role in the development of the area. In addition to its historical value, Vlaski Do also offers a spiritual experience — the local Church of St. John, though modest in size, carries a serene and sacred atmosphere. Surrounded by untouched nature, this destination is ideal for a short escape from the urban bustle, for walks, picnics, or simply relaxing in peaceful surroundings.
After a climb of about 50 meters from the former station, you reach a scenic viewpoint where a large white marble cross is placed. From this spot, there is an unforgettable view of the surrounding landscape, the Prlita River canyon, and the town of Zajecar in the distance.
