Nestled in the peaceful and picturesque valley of the Selačka River, surrounded by greenery and forest, the Suvodol Monastery stands as an oasis of spirituality and history. Its origins are traditionally linked to Prince Lazar, while the present appearance of the monastery church dates back to 1866, built on the foundations of an earlier church that had been destroyed. The monastery is well-known for its spring of healing water, which believers consider to have curative properties, as well as for the valuable icons that adorn the church.
Today’s women’s monastery offers a refuge from the bustle of everyday life and provides a unique opportunity to experience peace, tradition, and a spiritual atmosphere. The monastery preserves a rich tradition of icon painting, incense making, and beekeeping—crafts that the sisterhood has carefully nurtured for centuries.
